Catholic Archbishop Of Lagos Charges Political Office Holders On Improvement Of Nigerians’ Living Standard

The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, on Tuesday appealed to public office holders to demonstrate their commitment   towards improving the living standard of the electorate. Martins told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the utterances of many politicians were not geared towards achieving good governance, rather, overheating the polity.

“I think the heat that is there in the polity is affecting the quality of governance at this time.
“Those who have the charge of government now at different level need to not just be thinking about 2015 general elections but think about the present-day Nigeria and Nigerians.
“Think of how life is going to be made bearable, rather than creating the sort of tension that we are feeling at this point in time”.

He decried the undue attention being paid to the 2015 general elections, saying political leaders were losing focus on the needs of the majority of Nigerians. (NAN)

Central African Republic Crisis: Christian Fighters Want To Wipe Out CAR’s Muslims - Amnesty International

Anti-Balaka fighters in the Central African Republic are trying to “ethnically cleanse Muslims”, Amnesty International, the UK-based rights organisation, says in a report that cite first-hand testimonies from victims of the violence in the country’s northwest.

The result of the violent attacks is “a Muslim exodus of historic proportions”, Joanne Mariner, senior crisis response adviser for Amnesty International, says in the report. The report, published on Tuesday, also criticises the international community’s response to the crisis, noting that the peacekeeping troops have been reluctant to challenge mostly Christian anti-Balaka fighters, and have been slow to protect the Muslim minority.

Thousands flock to see ‘crying’ statue of Virgin Mary in Israel (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Thousands of people have gathered in a small town in northern Israel to see a statue of the Virgin Mary that a family claims is “weeping oil”. Members of a Christian family from Tarshiha, near the Lebanon border, say they have witnessed a miracle in their living room.

Osama Khoury said Tuesday that his wife Amira found the statue “covered with oil” recently. Amira said the statue “spoke to her” and told her not to be afraid. After a neighbor witnessed the oil, word soon spread.

Parts of the statue appear to be slick with moisture, even after it is wiped off.
The family says it is most striking when a “tear” seems to roll down the statue’s cheek. It says some 2,000 people have come to see the statue over the last week.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Reportedly Employs Foreign Security Experts

According to a report by Encomium mag, the Senior Pastor and founder of Christ Embassy, Chris Oyakhilome, has stepped up his personal security. The preacher and TV host is said to have employed the services of a foreign security firm in a bid to beef up security around himself.

According to a source at the church who spoke with the mag, the securitymen who started work at the last Christ Embassy Programme were not blacks. “The guys that guard Pastor now are not blacks. They are non-Africans” The source revealed.
A church administrator DID NOT confirm the report when contacted by Encomium but admitted that the security network at all Christ Embassy branches anywhere in the world is ‘impregnable’.

Mysterious 'Healing' River In Enugu State Dries Up

Since a Fulani herdsman discovered a mystery "healing river", which suddenly emerged from nowhere and took over a large expanse of land in a forest at Nnachi, in Udi LGA of Enugu State, the community has not had rest. People have continued to troop to have a spiritual bath and be made whole. However, it seems the party is coming to an end, so to say, as the river is drying up, and fast!

The General Overseer, Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Williams Kumuyi, on Sunday urged Nigerians to always resort to prayer to resolve the problems confronting them individually and as a nation. Kumuyi gave the charge during a special programme held at the church headquarters in Abuja.

He said that worry and anxiety could not bring solutions to the challenges facing individuals or the nation but prayer was necessary to turn things around. The cleric enjoined Christians not to resort to human wisdom, rioting, fighting or mere debates in addressing the challenges of life but to remain steadfast in prayers.

“When Peter was kept in the prison, prayer was made for him; not politics, not human wisdom, not debate, not rioting, not fighting, but prayer.
“When there is a problem, we should resort to prayer,” Kumuyi said.

According to the cleric, God is always ready to step in and fight for his own in time of trouble. He, therefore, urged the people to move closer to God and surrender their affairs to Him

So A church in the US state of Virginia, White Tail Chapel, has taken the bizarre decision to allow its congregation attend church services naked. Because according to their leader, Pastor Allen Parker, the clothing requirements of other churches were overly 'pretentious'. So he decided his own flock should be free to forgo such materialism if they desire.

Pastor Allen claims that many of the most important moments in the Bible happened while the protagonists were nude, including Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. Speaking to CNN, Mr Parker said:

Anglican Primates In Lagos, Decry Rising Violence In Africa

Anglican primates representing the 12 provinces of Africa on Monday lamented the rising wave of violence on the continent. The clergymen, who voiced their concern when they visited Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State at his office in Alausa, Ikeja, said violence depleted humanity.

The primates, who were led by the Primate of the Nigeria Anglican Communion, Dr. Nicolas Okoh, said the council members were in the nation’s commercial nerve centre with their wives to deliberate on important issues affecting the continent, especially the crisis in the Central African Republic, Egypt and Sudan.

A Lagos High Court, Igbosere, has fixed March 19 for ruling on a preliminary objection to a contempt charge brought against Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo by four chieftaincy clans of Offiran and Aiyeteju villages in Lagos-Epe Expressway.
The applicants who are defendants in a land matter instituted by the cleric’s firm, Meridian Properties Limited, had applied for form 49 (contempt proceedings) against Ashimolowo and one Adedeji Obisanya on grounds that they flaunted a status quo order issued by the court on July 3 last year.

Ashimolowo’s firm had dragged one Captain GOC Ugoh and 10 others to court for encroaching on his 26.486 hectares of land situated at Offiran village, which was acquired in phases by the company from various land owning families in the village in 2003. Rapper turned singer, OBIWON, is famously known for his hit tract,’Obim o’. He has been said to have left his career as a banker for music where he did relatively well with his first album. It was a shocking surprise when he left the secular world to join the gospel music but had to strive to convince the Christian community that he was for real.

It has always been a ringing tone advice to every celebrity to invest their money, while some are investing theirs, others are living lavishly, having babymama's here and there. Popular singer kefee has said she thinks every musician needs to have another source of income, especially when they are still young and so much in the game. According to her, all creative talents are from God and what we gain from them should be regarded as gifts; they come free and while we still work hard to make a living from them, we should also do other things.

"I work hard on my music and I earn money from it, but it does not end there for me. I am very passionate about food and cooking and that is why I started a restaurant business two years ago.
They also have to channel the money they have made from music into another business, by doing that they will have an insurance and pension for their old age and for their younger generation. Nothing lasts forever", she said.

Word for the wise. It is quite a pity how we reminice artist who were mega-stars in yesteryears when money had good value, only for them to emerge 10 - 15 years later been broke and probablly down with one terminal illness and seeking for public funds to do a life-saving surgery.

Unfortunatly for them, the world is getting harsh by the day,  and most of them ends up dead before the could gather enough sympathy. The message is not only for artist though, but also for you and I. Save for the rainy day.

POPE COMMISSIONS NEW VERSION OF BIBLE TO INCLUDE CHARACTER FROM THE HARRY POTTER SERIES

new version of bible to be written by Harry Potter's author, JK Rowlings

News has it that Pope Francis has hired famous and revered children’s author JK Rowling to rewrite the Bible. You know JK Rowlings, the woman that wrote the Harry Porter series. It is hoped the author, most famous for her Harry Potter series, can make it the bible more accessible and believable for a new generation of Catholics and Christians.

While the specifics of the rewrite are not yet known, it is believed Rowling is tasked with producing a compelling tale that young Catholics and Christians can engage with. Figures such as dementors and other popular creations may take the place of less realistic Biblical creatures such as unicorns and the leviathon.
