Nigeria Would Have Disintegrated If Not For The Church – Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, declared in Warri, that if not for the Church, the country would have disintegrated.
Speaking at the flag off of this year’s Word of Life Bible Church’s Jubilee Word Festival at the International
Gospel Centre, Warri, the President, paid glowing tributes to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor who marked his birthday yesterday, describing him as a “very very strong president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.”
Jonathan, who said nation building is a collective responsibility, challenged Nigerians to join hands with his administration for the onerous task of building the nation. “Whenever I have the opportunity to address a religious gathering like this, I always like to repeat myself that but for the Church, this country would probably have gone into oblivion.
“You have been praying persistently day and night and that is why some of our challenges are still at this level. Nigerians are totally committed, not pretenders,” he said. The president also reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing steady power supply in the country. He assured Nigerians that by the end of April next year there would be relatively steady power supply.
LESSON: always pray for your leaders and those in government, just as Apostle Paul admonishes in the bible. it may seem futile but collectively our prayers go along way to sustain the country in peace an unity, and better government policies.
many people say that they hate politics because politics is a dirty game. well, politics is a dirty game when political position are occupied by "dirty" people. when the right people get into power, the government will change and the will be a difference in policies to uphold equity and fairness for all.
i am sure we must have heard of states or country ruled by christian leaders (past presidents of the United States of America) or having a theocratic ruler (like in the case of the Vatican city). so it it not a mirage. it can come true i believe, even in a country like ours-with conscious effort
we cannot continue to leave affairs to some "elites" or "cabals" and expect a new story or a change from nowhere. even if you do not want to actively participate in the government, you can be close enough to influence those in Government to make better policies for her people.
we also need patriotism in our country, as helpless as it looks, there is still hope. BLESS
