It is always lovely to hear when the church joins forces with political leaders because what is better than the lights of the world helping to lead and direct the progress of their homeland?
This was the story we heard when Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Catholic bishop of the Sokoto diocese, met with Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto state.
During this visit, not only did Rev. Kukah commend the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar, for his role in
promoting religious harmony in Nigeria and commend the people of Sokoto for their hospitality, but Rev. Kukah also assured Gov. Tambuwal that the church was ready to work alongside the state government in all areas of human interest.

The Sokoto diocese currently run a hospital and school, however, Gov. Tambuwal promised to partner with the Catholic church to further improve education, healthcare delivery, religious harmony and peace within Sokoto and beyond. Moreover, Gov. Tambuwal also desires that Rev. Kukah looks into the areas of youth empowerment and skills acquisition.
If we want to achieve the desired results in our countries we must get involved somehow, by praying and also by stretching out our hands to help build the nation that we want to live in!
I see a great future ahead of Nigeria if the church continues to help in its leadership.
