In parts of India, people are divided into social groups in a system known as the caste system. Moreover, because Meenakshi Kumar, 23, and her family come from a caste called the Dalit (untouchables), it was an abomination when her 25-year old brother, Ravi Kumar, fell in love with a lady from the Jat caste- a higher social class.
Their relationship was reportedly rocky for years as both sets of parents did not approve and forced the lovers to split up. As a result, they decided to elope twice and returned both times. Ravi's parents explained to him the issues with their relationship and that it would be his family who would suffer, while Krishna's parents (the lady) beat her repeatedly, eventually forcing her to marry another man from a higher caste than Ravi.
But of course, she ran straight back to Mr Kumar and the lovers ran away together again. The problem was that this time, he has run away with somebody else's wife!
The Jat village leaders have now decided that in punishment for their brother's actions, the 23-year old Meenakshi Kumar (Javi's sister) and her 15-year old sister must be raped and paraded naked around the streets with their faces blackened.
When questioned about the punishment for the adulterous woman in the Bible, Jesus replied and said "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her". Here, people want to sin in order to 'punish' innocent women? May GOD help His children worldwide and bless them all with wisdom. Amen!
