It Took me Six Years and two albums To Break Out As A Gospel Artiste - Obiwon

Rapper turned singer, OBIWON, is famously known for his hit tract,’Obim o’. He has been said to have left his career as a banker for music where he did relatively well with his first album. It was a shocking surprise when he left the secular world to join the gospel music but had to strive to convince the Christian community that he was for real.

He admits It took Obiwon six years for him to be accepted as a gospel artiste. Then he was able to bring out two albums and he was fully welcomed. the rin an interview with the NET, he opened up about his career and how far he has fared in the industry since he joined the gospel artistes
He said, ‘Christians are very difficult to convince, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I really don’t blame anybody because I think it takes a while to get into the role of being a minister of music in gospel.’
He added, ‘I even had an occasion where the youth of a particular church invited me to come and minister at a church and when the pastor heard, he said “On my altar? Obiwon? Never!” These were some of the early challenges until I started getting accepted.’
