About 5 churches in the USA ; whose congregations are mainly made up of African Americans, have reportedly caught fire in the past week, according to the Southern Poverty Law Centre.

These fires have taken place in churches in the southern states as well as in Ohio state, while it is reported that about 3 of these fires were set up intentionally.
The affected churches include College Hills Seventh Day Adventist Church in Knoxville, which was burnt down deliberately, God's Power Church of Christ in Macon, Georgia which caught fire a day later and Briar Creek Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina which was also deliberately set on fire on Wednesday, causing over £250,000 worth of damage.
One feasible possibility is that the actions were hate crimes, however, investigators believe that there may also be other reasons for the acts of arson.
However, one thing is sure and that is that the power of forgiveness continues to prevail as Pastor Mannix Kinsey, of Briar Creek Baptist Church sends this message out to whoever started the fire:
"Honestly I can speak for this church, that we've already forgiven them and we want to move forward. And we are hoping this is an opportunity for Christ to show Himself in their hearts."
