A thousand entrepreneurs selected from over 20,000 applicants from all over Africa converged in Nigeria for a two-day boot camp session. This will be the maiden boot camp of the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme), a $100m Pan-African entrepreneurship initiative.
Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners’ Chapel, Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, and other eminent personalties joined 1000 African Entrepreneurs at
Covenant University on Saturday for The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship program Bootcamp 2015.
In what is billed to be the largest ever gathering of emerging entrepreneurs on the continent, the boot camp – which is a major milestone of the flagship programme of the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) – will see an interaction between established entrepreneurs from different sectors of industry, and the 1000 selectees of TEEP.
“Enterprises and societies thrive, on the the values of moral integrity, self discipline, hard work and innovation, respect for rule of law, and the prompt payment of taxes. These are the critical components for successful economies and countries anywhere. Self-discipline, the ability to serve and to invest as well as bearing losses are critical,” noting that discipline alone is not sufficient." said Osinbajo, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari at the event.
The Vice President asserted that “the core of success in business is integrity, honesty and trust in the conduct of business,” adding that “credit worthiness is important in business, because when trust fails every other thing fails. The payment of taxes and other obligations, be it moral or civic, for the purpose of development of the economy, for building infrastructure and other services are all important in business,” he stated.
