CALL TO SERVICE: Wife of Niger State Governor Offers to Work in State Hospital?

So while the wives of other governors and ministers are busy planning an itenirary of vacations and shopping that they can make while their husbands are still in public office, The first lady of Niger state, Dr. Amina Bello has offered to work as gynecologist at the state General hospital in Minna the state capital.

Speaking during her visit to the hospital on Friday,  July 10th, Mrs Bello said:
"My visit is to see how I can contribute to the society. That is what I do. I see pregnant women, I see women with problems, I operate on women on caesarian section; that is what I intend to do as my own contribution. The hospital should expect better services. I would like to contribute my own quota, visit some of these women, spend time with
them, helping with their surgeries and deliveries. I also need to see how the premises, where I will render my services, looks like. And I am very happy because the environment is so clean despite the old structures.”she said
This should really be a challenge to many first ladies and wives of public office holders; to female arctress, musicians, celebrities and entertainers. Indeed, it is not just enough that you go visit one a few home of less privileged to mark an anniversary or for your child's birthday and stuff. There are better things to do with your position of power as 'queen'!

Look around you, and in your community. Many widows are still been victimized. Many young girls are still going into prostitution in order to fend for themselves. Many children are still dying of malaria or one infantile disease or the other. Just like Queen Esther, you should start a movement, leave a policy that would out-live your tenure in that position.

God Help us.
