Not fewer than 14 people were bitten by snakes during a mass conducted by Pope Francis in the city of Asuncion in Paraguay during his tour to Latin America.Although no life was lost in the incident as medics were in the venue to attend to victims
The snakebites occurred despite the fumigation of the venue of the mass by authority to protect over 1million pilgrims who attented the sunday mass.
Pilgrims came from all over Paraguay and thousands from neighbouring countries especially
Argentina which is the Pope's home country to withness this event.most of the pilgrims faced the risk of getting infected by mosquito-borne diseases which is common during the rain season.Alot of people spent the previous night at the venue to secure a good position to see the Pope who is the first Latin American to head the Roman Catholic Church.
At the mass , Pope Francis talked about inequality in the society today but the re-occurring theme was CORRUPTION which he called the gangrene of the society.he aslo talked about forgiveness.
The Pope ended his week long tour on sunday to 3 of the poorest and smallest countries in south America.Bolivia, Paraguay and Ecuador.
